The day I summited Katahdin and the day I summited Springer. A lot went on between these two faces.
October 20th4 months and twenty days of wild experiences, incredible people, and unforgettable scenery. All of it over in a single second. An incredible journey that I would do over and over again for the rest of my life. Thank you to all who helped and encouraged me along the way. I couldn’t have done it with out you. I hope some of this will inspire some folks to start ( and hopefully complete) your own hike.
October 19thLast sunset on the trail disguised by the thick woods of northern Georgia.
October 18thAll sorts of cool forest growths.
October 10thOwls and fall colors just south of the Smokies.
October 9thI really enjoy cool trees. Fontana Dam at last. There was a 15 degree difference between the peaks and the dam.
October 7thHighest point on the AT, Clingman’s Dome.
October 6thSecond day in the Smokies, I woke up to an unbelievable sunrise at Ice water Springs Hut. This was the coldest it had been on the whole trail for me. Also, a view from Charlie’s Bunion. I hiked a mile back to see it because I missed it the day before due to heavy fog. Definitely worth going back for.
October 4th? (mixed up some of my pictures so i’m not exactly sure when this was)Cruised into Hot Springs, North Carolina for some well deserved lunch. 4,600 calories later I was stuffed to the max. Luckily Hot Springs isn’t named Hot Springs for no reason. Golden, Cock Man, Magik Monk and I took an hour to relax in the spring water hot tubs. I really hated to split up the Uncle Johnny’s Crew but we all had our own hikes to hike. I hiked out of town in the dark to a very, very heavily mouse infested shelter.
October 3rdSide trails are almost ALWAYS worth it!
